This software update is provided only for users that are presently running Matrox Mx.tools 3.6, and want to stay with their 32-bit operating system. It requires you to uninstall Matrox Mx.tools 3.6, but you must keep the Matrox effect patterns (GFX files) from the 3.6 release. Your Matrox 3.6 effect patterns are compatible with the Mx.tools 4.0 software.

Note: If you want to install Mx.tools 4.0 on a Windows Vista 64-bit system, you must download and install the full Mx.tools 4.0 DVD content

Install Matrox Mx.tools 4.0

   1. Uninstall Matrox Mx.tools 3.6 (choose Start > All Programs > Matrox Mx.tools > Uninstall Matrox Mx.tools). Important: When prompted, do not choose to remove the Matrox effect patterns.
   2. Install Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, version 4.0.1, and any third-party programs for which you want to install the Matrox WYSIWYG plug-in, such as Adobe After Effects CS4.
   3. Download the following file: RTX2_40Update.zip (132 MB)2.


      If you’re experiencing problems with the download, you can try downloading from any of the following alternate mirror sites:

      Alternate mirror site (US): RTX2_40Update.zip3

      Alternate mirror site (UK): RTX2_40Update.zip4

      Internet Explorer users: When server traffic is heavy, you may be prompted to enter your user name and password to connect to the Matrox FTP server. This indicates that the maximum connection limit to the server has been reached. If this happens, click Cancel in the displayed dialog box, and then try the download again later.

   4. Run WinZip to extract the contents of the downloaded file to a folder of your choice on your hard drive (make sure that the "Use folder names" option is selected).
   5. Double-click the extracted RtxSetup.exe file to run it.
   6. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Matrox Mx.tools 4.0 (the installation of the Matrox effect patterns will be skipped).
   7. Once you’ve installed Matrox Mx.tools 4.0, proceed with the installation of the Matrox sequence presets for Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 as explained below.

Install the Matrox sequence presets for Premiere Pro CS4

   1. Download the following file: CS4Presets.exe (1 MB)5.
   2. Run the downloaded file to install the Matrox sequence presets for Adobe Premiere Pro CS4.
